We do not pay attention to some aspects of the game, because we consider them obvious and too easy. But are they really that easy? Let’s take a closer look at things familiar to everyone.
Understanding the map
This is the first thing you need to master if you want to somehow increase your skill in Dota 2. And believe me, there is always something to improve in terms of understanding the map of the game. A good doter notices a whole bunch of different things on the map. A few things to study:
- Enemy picks and lanes
- Enemy movements
- Minimap
- Roshan
- Runes
- Inventory check. Hero Farming and Artifact Progress
- Combat information
Use of the map and the importance of towers
One of the most important things, and at the same time very difficult for many, is the correct use of the space received after the destruction of enemy taverns. Every time you destroy a tower, you expand the possibilities for yourself and your team. The taverns, as it were, set up invisible boundaries, showing the space controlled by the teams. They also work as some kind of safe zone, especially in the early stages (they deal damage, see invisibility and allow you to teleport).
Successful Ganks
Ganking refers to the movement of one or more heroes to another lane in order to kill the enemy. First, you need to determine the hero that should be ganked first. Secondly, you need to determine who on your team can find the time and opportunity to help in the gank. These are perhaps the two most basic questions that need to be answered for a successful gank. The first answer is pretty obvious: you need to gank the enemy mid or hard carry, because in the late game they will have the most influence, and by killing them early on, you can reduce this influence. Also don’t forget to gank the jungler, especially if you haven’t blocked any creepspots for him. These targets can be killed quite easily if you know their location. But if you leave these guys without attention, then later they will become a big problem.
Decision making and “trading”
Each decision made in the game affects its outcome. And this influence is either positive or negative. Yes, it is every decision that affects the game. If you accept this, you will be one step closer to improving your game. From the very beginning of the game, you are faced with a choice: you can go for a rune, arrange a smoke gank, block spawns in the forest, etc. Whatever you choose, it will somehow affect the game.
Improving communication and leadership skills
Communication with teammates is very important. The way you communicate with them greatly affects their effectiveness in the game. You can either unleash their talents or make them disappear. If you are the captain of any team, then it is better to reread the previous sentence one more time. There are 2 things captains usually can’t balance: be decisive and polite. They either point out their mistakes to teammates too aggressively, or vice versa – they are too soft with them. Try to avoid these two extremes, because as a result, people do not draw any conclusions and do not learn from their failures. When you talk about a mistake made by a teammate, try not to look like an omniscient tyrant.
